Bhp Looks At Ghg In Copper Chain
Diversified miner BHP has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with metals major JX Metals Corporation to jointly develop initiatives to cut back on greenhouse-gas (GHG) emissions in the copper supply chain. The two companies will pursue the development of a Green Enabling Partnership which is aimed at supporting the continued development of a responsible copper supply chain through enhancing traceability and material origin verification across industry, from producers to downstream consumers such as copper product manufacturers, as well as the semiconductor, information technology and automobile industries.

Endeavour Sells Noncore Burkina Faso Mines For $300m
London- and Toronto-listed Endeavour Mining sold its Boungou and Wahgnion mines, in Burkina Faso, for $300-million, as part of its strategy to focus on higher quality assets. The mines, deemed noncore to Endeavour, were sold to Lilium Capital, an African and frontier markets-focused investment vehicle led by West African entrepreneurs. The total consideration comprises of upfront and deferred cash considerations, as well as net smelter return royalties.

Newcrest Eyes Major Expansion Of Canadian Gold-Copper Project
Newcrest Mining may have enough gold and copper deposits at its Red Chris project in Canada to open an entirely new section and extend mining in the area for decades, CEO Sherry Duhe said. Australia’s biggest gold producer, which is set to be acquired by US giant Newmont, plans to decide later this year on whether to add underground block cave mining to its open pit operations at Red Chris. Meanwhile, exploration at the neighboring East Ridge area was yielding “exciting” results, Duhe said in an interview in Brisbane on Wednesday.
