Kamoa Copper and China Enfei Engineering Technology Co., LTD. (hereinafter referred to as "China Enfei") today signed the EPCM contract for Kamoa - Kakula Phase III copper beneficiation project online.
Ivanhoe Mines, a Canadian mining company, is advancing its three major projects in Southern Africa: the development of a newly expanded mechanized underground mine at the Kamoa-Kakula copper project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo; the development of the Platreef palladium, rhodium, Platinum-nickel-copper-gold mine in South Africa; And the reconstruction of the prestigious Kipushi zinc-copper-germanium-silver mine, also in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Kamoa-kakula is one of the highest grade and fastest growing large copper mines in the world. Kamoa-kakula commenced copper concentrate production in May 2021 and will be expanded in phases in the future, which is expected to become one of the largest copper producers worldwide. The Kamoa-Kakula mine has a target of 310-340,000 tonnes of copper-bearing metals in concentrate for 2022.
At the same time, Ivanhoe Mines is looking for new copper resources in the Western Foreland exploration rights adjacent to the Kamoa-Kakula copper project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The Western Frontier exploration rights cover 2,400 square kilometers and are wholly owned by Ivanhoe Mines
